REMEMBER, THE BLACK MORALITY SYSTEM IS DIFFERENT FROM THE WHITE MAN'S. WE ARE DEALING WITH A MAN WHO HAS BACKING FROM A HUGE WAVE OF CRIME LOVING CITIZENS. MACKEY'S PAST MAKES HIM A HERO TO THEM!

what past? you people are making up stuff. you want to talk about a morality system? lets talk about a president (GWB) that used to use cocaine and went against world authority to fight an unjust war. how about a country that was built on slaves backs and the natives slaughtered to nonexistence, laws created specifically to legally keep them in bondage, so of course a good percentage of them are considered "criminals", and cops that profile minorities while ignoring whites which may or may not even be the majority, and top that off with a media that disproportionately portrays what goes on every day and corporate executives that pay off politicians to impose their agenda. you are sooo right, the white man's morality system is different, but the diff is, it's... worse and they are in DENIAL!

Sorry mlk2day What do GWB and the rest of your post have to do with Mr. Mackey? nothing. Pointing out others mistakes and shortfalls will not change what is. Mr. Mackey wants to be the Sheriff. He will not open up about his past. Because he won't make public his past, he has only brought speculation and media attention to himself. I think that I heard it best put in these terms. Where ever there is smoke there’s fire. I didn't get a chance to vote for or against Mackey. I didn't vote for GWB. Should Mackey get the position he will have three years or so to prove him self. But the odds are he would be voted out of office next go around.

I honestly hope that mlk2day is not involved in any form of politics. I'd imagine the "I know you are, but what am I?" defense would be used often.
I wish Mackey would just go away. I don't think he is the right candidate for the job. He's financially irresponsible and seemingly has something to hide since he has refused multiple requests to release his personnel file.
I compare that to trying to get a job and refusing to fill out an application or submit a resume. Don't do one or the other, you don't get the job. Why should this be any different?
I'd really like to know who these people are who voted for him.

sorry bluelinebill but you are exactly right and you only proved my point in which judging from the way you attacked your response you did not fully understand. it had as much to do with nick mackey as much as the hateful post US7X3KS did. NOTHING. but what it does do is point out the logical fallacies in his and PERHAPS your way of thinking. bluelinebill, you seem to be a fairly logical person except for your "where there is smoke there is fire" comment which is in this instance another logical fallacy. a better analogy to fit this case since he was fairly voted; would be "if you go looking for trouble you are sure to find it." the fact of the matter is mackey was voted by a majority to be sheriff. if people don't like it and didn't get to vote but wish they had, then tough. try next time. that's what you call being an adult and showing good sportsmanship. what kind of democracy warrants when a fair vote is not liked by some, you go back, rewind the clock and go looking for reason to not honor what the people have chosen? not only is that not fair, that is what you call a few people trying to play God and it shows that this country has not changed much since the days of slavery, which is the basis of my last rhetorical post. and for the record, "speculation and media attention" is not a legitimate reason nor concrete evidence to fuel not honoring the vote THAT ELECTED NICK MACKEY SHERIFF OF MECKLENBURG COUNTY. that is todays equivalence of a mob lynching. but i guess the members of those mobs back then didn't see it that way either...

and to you spankysbbq, The feeling is mutual. I hope that you are not involved in any form of politics, or any form of law enforcement or in any position of authority in general. Again like in my previous post I explained that the first post I made was only a rhetorical response intending to point out the bias and prejudice of US7X3KS’s comment. How come not one of you supposedly fair people said or did nothing to scorn his hatefulness?
Your vivid imagination is still no valid reason to not honor a vote. The "I know you are, but what am I?" defense comment you made, considering I never said anything like that, and you wishing Mackey would just go away only proves that you are a bit DELUSIONAL and living in a fantasy word. Perhaps you should just “clicked your heels three times” and wish Mackey and all black people of authority away. Your whole comment is based on all imagination, logical fallacies and no facts. You do not think he is the right candidate, another fallacy, he is NOT a candidate. He won, period, point blank. What does being financially irresponsible have to with his ability to perform a job well? According to this screwed up logic of yours anyone including you who has made financial faults in the past doesn’t deserve a job. In discordance to your la-la land theories, people just don’t go away. Although you may not see them, they still have lives to live, families to feed etc. Mackey is a human being just as you are, and deserves to be treated as such until proven otherwise.
“I compare that to trying to get a job and refusing to fill out an application or submit a resume. Don't do one or the other, you don't get the job. Why should this be any different?”
The Difference is, he is not trying to get a job, he has already been voted by a majority so therefore he already has the job. You are just trying to come up with every excuse in the book to unsuccessfully show why you are not a racist.
“I'd really like to know who these people are who voted for him”
It doesn’t matter who they are, if you find out, what are you going to do? Wish them dead or to go away with your delusional imagination? The fact of the matter is YOU AND YOUR LIKES ARE NOT GOD, so please stop trying to play God and let this man do the job he has been elected to do. Who are you or anyone else to say that he won’t be the best sheriff that Mecklenburg County has ever seen? Perhaps that is what you are afraid of.
Now here is a more realistic analogy of this situation: 2 kids playing a game. Kid #1 fairly beats kid #2 in the game, so kid #2 turns the game off and acts like it never happens and says “Lets start the game over and play again, the last game doesn’t count because I don’t like the outcome, and if you don’t go along with this, I am going to get my other friends to gang up on you and bully and embarrass you and expose the fact that you still wet the bed.” Understand? Make logical sense to ya? Probably not; but I wouldn’t expect an irrational, racist mind like yours to be able to comprehend common sense. Need help? Go watch the movie "Blazing Saddles".

to lalagirl it's obvious that you can only see things in black and white. the melanin content of my skin has nothing to do with the fact that i like see all people treated fairly and equal, be they black, white, male or female, now if you want to call that a chip on my shoulder, so be it.
lets just hope that you yourself is never put in a discriminatory position or sexually harrassed or raped, in that case i would have to tell you to take your own advice and you get over it....

What the hell does that have to do with Mackey being Sheriff? If you check the newspaper today you'll see more negative info about him. I guess the Observer made it all up, right? I think you're the one who sees only black and white as in people. I believe you're the one who brought up slavery and blacks not getting a fair chance.......This Sheriff issue has NOTHING to do with his race. I'll bet you think it does though. What kind of statement is that to say if I get raped you'd just tell me to get over it? Please explain what that has to do with this issue.

Post by mlk2day on Jan 6, 2008 12:23:02 GMT -5
23T2PW5, no i havent read the observer today, but i will after this. and the media bringing up irrelevant events from mackey's past and his family has everything to do with race, and nothing to do with his ability to do a good job. what i said about being raped was in reference to lalagirls insensitive comments. when i brought up slavery was in reference to US7X3KS's stereotyping black people as being immoral. my point is i defend black people. we are human beings just like the rest of you, so why take minute issues i say out of context but totally ignore the bigger point i am trying to make? and no i dont wish you would get raped but perhaps you should be more sensitive to the problems of all people, especially with you being a minority yourself. because if the ball was in your park, im sure you would want fellow human beings, be they black white purple or green to be empathetic to you. that's what i meant. and as for my beliefs, i do not see in black and white. i don't even believe in race. race is an invention of man that only separates us and causes us to do things like enslave one another, and discriminate against ourselves. get it?

jfk2day like i told the previous person no i have not read the observer, but i am about to. i dont know what it says but im quite sure that if one was to dig deep enough in each one of our past, they would find things that we are not so proud of. my point is we are not perfect only one man that walked this earth was, and if the media and your like would stop passing judgement on mackey and allow him to do the job he was elected to do, who is to say he wouldnt be good at it? and BTW judging from the handle you chose, i am assuming you already know what mlk2day stands for. i think i have got myself an admirer. thanks. i am flattered! ;D "He without sin cast the first stone."

Hello....when you run for elected office, your past and present will be looked into...as it should. If you are going to be Sheriff you surely can't expect to not have your entire past looked at. Alot of these issues are current issues anyway. He may be able to do a good job as you say but his past indiscretions may prevent him from doing so. I could care less is he's black and white striped the bottom line is whether or not he's qualified for the job. Judging by all the info coming out I don't think he is. Maybe you should get all the facts yourself. mlk2day, it seems that you don't want to accept the facts....The only thing you see is a black man running for office. You were quick to use the slavery card....How long ago was that? ?

Post by jfk2day on Jan 6, 2008 13:10:23 GMT -5
mlk2day, you should definitely get all the facts before you go defending something you obviously know nothing about. Whay exactly are you defending. It looks like all you care about is a black man getting into office........You've turned this into a race issue. The white man this and that.......Lets talk racist now......

lalagirl, all you say is correct but one thing you are leaving out is he was fairly ELECTED so he is NOT running for office, he WON. address that. the correct thing would have been to look into all that first. you don't go changing up laws on the spot to fit a personal agenda, if thats the case the ones doing this are the criminals. THIS IS A DEMOCRACY NOT A FASCIST STATE OR IS IT? did you people see what US7X3KS said? did you not see anything wrong with that? i have constantly answered your concerns now stop ignoring mine don't respond to me without addressing that.

jfk2day ill say it again. he already won the office. and like i said before i didn't bring up racism i simply react to it. US7X3KS started with the racist remarks why do you people keep ignoring that? and you say its obvious i know nothing about this? what so obvious? are you in my head? or are you just assuming because you think i am black that you automatically know more than me? so yes lets talk about racism. you said lets talk, but doesnt look like you had much to say....

|
Post by lalagirl on Jan 6, 2008 18:57:10 GMT -5
yes i do believe you're racist because you keep talking discrimination and you keep bringing up race issues: "you assume I know nothing because I'm black", slavery, etc. etc. You were quick to say that the Observer was printing false info on Mackey but you haven't once stated what the false info was. I assume the complaints from his clients were all false? It can't be discrimination if its true. Just because he was "elected" doesn't mean he'll stay there. If all these allegations are proven true, his days in office will be numbered.

lalagirl i never said i was black. read again. but this time use your mind and not passion, and i never said what the observer was printing was false either. you just assume i am black. and if you thought what the other blogger said was racist, why did you not address that? did you see when i said that all people should be treated equally be they black white male or female? i guess that is racist also? stop taking my words out of context.
|
|
|
Post by mlk2day on Jan 6, 2008 19:51:23 GMT -5
and for the record, it can be discrimination if its true. just like you chose to take my words and of context but you never said anything to the other person. you pick who you want to apply the label to. the media digs up information on mackey but they never did the same thing to kidd or pendergrass... and covert racists like yourself are worse than overt racists because you allow it to continue. look at all the post and look at the ORDER in which they came. you choose to ignore the originator but you react to victim.
(To mlk2day. Its obvious you're a black man with a big ole chip on your shoulder. Get over it. ) <-- is that not a stereotypical based racist statement? those are your words. stop throwing rocks and hiding your hands.

Post by lalagirl on Jan 6, 2008 20:50:32 GMT -5
Its obvious you're black because you immediately used the race card. You referred to slavery (where that fits in I'm not sure), "the Observer is making up stuff", you haven't enlightened us as to what that is, GWB's past cocaine use (convenient that he's white). We would be concerned if it were recent but this was during when???college????You turned this into a racial issue. Are you saying that the reason Mackey is being investigated is because he's black? I guess blacks can never be questioned for any reason or its discrimination or harrassment.

lalagirl. its obvious that you admire me and its also obvious that you are bipolar, coming in 2 different names saying the same thing over and over again. i already explained why i said what i said. ill explain one more time, if you don't get it this time then tough. the reference to slavery was a response to the other blogger saying that blacks were criminal lovers so this arguement was very valid being he was the one brought up "race card". what i meant was white people seem to have a short memory when it comes to injustice. true this is 2008, but look at what just happened in west virginia in 2007, look what happened in 2007 in jenna. as for bush, he was forgiven for his past, even clinton in which i like by the way who puffed but not inhaled was forgiven, why can't mackey. its appareent that i preach forgiveness and you speak of hate, ignorance and revenge. if you stand for what you say you stand for again challenge the first blogger that initiated the hate, or is that one of your many names also?

How do you feel about having a sheriff who is incompetent, cheats and lies, screws his poor and indigent clients, and is merely looking for a cushy government job because he discovered that you actually have to WORK at being a lawyer to make money? If that's what you want, you deserve what you get. I'm glad I moved out of Charlotte.

lol to ncgirl im over here lmao @ u. u r a joke. ;D there's a few things wrong with what you say, but i am going to just pick 2 to comment on 2. 1. you say he is incompetent, i assume you are talking about mackey right? well how did he get to be an attorney in the first place? let's not forget he was also a police officer and a sherriff's deputy. 2. since you moved out of charlotte, how are you still getting charlotte news? lol psychopath...

mlk2day. All I have to say is you seem to be the psychopath. No, I'm not the other blogger, GET IT? ? You wonder how the other blogger can get Charlotte News? LOL! Heard of the internet? You used the "slavery" and "mob lynching" terms in several different responses. If you were so informed you would know that there are legitimate complaints against Mackey but it appears that you are just "defending the black man" as you put it. What exactly are you defending Mackey against???THE TRUTH MAYBE. I bet you don't even know the facts regarding Mackey. BTW, just because he's an attorney that doesn't mean he has any common sense. Most smart attorneys wouldn't fall asleep in court. Bet the judge was white and is just discriminating against him too. Can't wait to see the outcome. Its people like you who cause discrimination.

Sure...let's do look at Jena. 6 black males beat the hell out of one white male. I don't care if it was the other way around, the fact of the matter is that six males beat on one. If I walk up and call you an ignorant piece of garbage, do you feel it is your obligation to retaliate with physical violence? Most might say something on the lines of....NO!
If you want to play the race card, prepare to get slapped with arguments far stronger than that weak crap. The race card is a last resort. It is used when someone has no valid points to make or pursue and they are in need of a lifeline. I, as a white male, could play the race card just as you can, assuming you are non-white. I use the term non-white as broad term that would cover all who are not caucasian.
In my opinion, Mackey is a crook. He is bad with finances and cannot be trusted. He has things to hide. For someone who is supposed to answer to the taxpayers, he sure as hell is not providing ANY answers, straight or otherwise. Do you really want to trust someone to a multi-million dollar budget that recently declared bankruptcy? I sure as hell don't and I'm quite sure I am not the only one who feels the same way.
And where was it stated that Mackey was a Deputy? I must have missed that one. If he was, I stand corrected and apologize.
And seriously, mlk, you are really reaching by accusing anyone of posting under two seperate names. You really need to get back to the drawing board and examiine your plan of attack. This one isn't working at all.
By the way, a weighted selection by a small group of people IS NOT an election.
And Pendergraph doesn't get questioned because he showed results and didn't try to divide the county with bullsiht politics. He stepped up and got the job done.
