Does our DA have a conscience? How long must we endure this bureaucrat? Every victim of crime in this city should be furious with this guy. Especially victims who are victimized over and over by REPEAT OFFENDERS who have been set free by his office. The way I hear it being arrested is just a inconvenience for most criminals here in Charlotte. So what is the answer to this guy and what is the best way to show him the door?

Why is it that when working people are charged with traffic offenses they can never get the offense plea bargained down to zero with no fine ,but a 10-20 time repeat offender crack head can go to court with no money in his pocket and GO HOME THAT SAME DAY!!!! Answer-----Peter Gilchrist
Working people care about their life and family, and will pay the fine and move on. A drug addict cares about NOTHING, and our DA will see to it that they can continue with their sorry lifestyle with his crazy ideas on how to dispense JUSTICE to them.

Does anyone have any idea how many ADA work in the DA's office? Also what is the work load per ADA? Plea deals are usually struck when the ADA are overwhelmed by their case load, and they are being pressured to clear cases as quick as possible. The solution usually is to hire more ADA, but that is dependent on budget, and most of the budget increase, from what I can tell, is for the law enforcement, not prosecution. More cops, plus same number of ADAs equals greater case load on ADAs, more possibility of plea deals being struck. The DA has failed us by not pushing the importance of increase the prosecution budget as much as the law enforcement budget. Also, please look at the judges who preside over these trials, sometimes they ignore the history in favor of their own personal beliefs and ideas. Remember we elect DAs and judges, so chose carefully next time you vote.

The Da would be much more efficient if they would join the 21st century and use a computer system instead of paper to move cases. Mr Gilcrest is a technophobe, and that has hampered his office from prosecuting as many cases as they would otherwise be able to.
