I live in the Chantilly neighborhood. We average 30 break ins a month. We had 40 break ins, in broad daylight in one month on one street. The crimes listed hereafter all happened in the last 6 months. In one day, 15 cars were vandalized in a parking lot. Gas tanks punctured to steal the fuel, tires slashed, cars broken into. In separate incidents, my tag was stolen, my father's pickup was broken into, 2 of his cars were stolen in one swoop, a neighbor's boat was vandalized, a window was broken in an attempt to burglarize. I saw someone dumping 2 newspaper machines one night, condoms in the parking lot regularly. People parking here all the time. This is a regular path from Grier Heights to Commonwealth Ave. Constant stream crossing Independence Blvd. Day after day. Call in a report, nothing. But the police ride through about once every couple of weeks and run my tag. Car is parked here 365 days a year, but I get tagged. What do you do? I'm afraid to stick my head out the door at night.

Move out of Charlotte or get a shotgun. When you live in the jungle you must adapt to the indigenous species or become prey.
