Do you think Charlotte should publish the names of people with active warrants in Mecklenburg County-- like Monroe (Union County) did? Personally, I have mixed feelings about it. I think it is a great idea to save the Sheriff's Office time and money and reduce the number of active warrants. On the other hand, I think it is unfair to publish a name without giving the details because the warrant could be for littering or murder... If people only see a name- they don't know if you are a litterbug or violent criminal and we all know how people judge… What do you think? Do you think Charlotte-Mecklenburg should follow suit and do the same?In case you missed the news coverage on this topic: www.news14charlotte.com/content/local_news/?ArID=127572&SecID=2

I think they should print names and even pictures if available. Even if the warrant is for littering, the perp didn't show up and had a warrant issued. That's what's wrong with our justice system today...we look the other way when people commit illegal acts instead of holding them accountable...much like ILLEGAL immigration.

I'm on the fence about this one. On one hand, you might get some people to turn themselves in. On the other, you wil have given some offenders the knowledge of the warrant and it could send them fleeing. Then there would be less of a chance for arrest. That's just my thought on that.

Yes and they should also give a description of the fugitives. So citizens can be on the look out for them. They say “ so and so robbed a store, call the tip line…” What did they look like?! How can we look for criminals on the loose if we don’t know the description?
