The Observer Head line "Police use of force up 27%"
Maybe the Head line should have been Suspects resisting arrest up by 27%
I will admit a conceit on my part.
No Officer I know of wants to use force. The Officers I know want every arrest to go smoothly and quietly.
When force is used to affect an arrest the suspect could be injured and the Officer can be injured. Theres also a lot of documentation about the incident that go's on when force is used. Making a hard job harder
So if the use of force is up 27% it's a good bet that suspects are the main cause of it.

I agree that the headline should be altered to the "Suspects resisting...".
I just have a hard time believing that police offiers put on a badge as a means to beat people. If you get your @$$ whiped by the police, don't you think it might heve been something YOU did?
