My husband and I have been looking for a home in Charlotte since February. We aren't planning to move until Summer, 2010 but just checked the Family Watchdog website for offenders within Charlotte. I was shocked to see how many there are!
Every address I put in for a house that I found has offenders nearby. Some neighborhoods have 12, while others might have 50!
Can anyone tell me if they've had problems there with a sex offender? I live in Jersey and we have two in my town and 12 in the area. But my area extends to towns that are 10 - 20 miles away. I'm rethinking our move. I know Charlotte is very populated so I should expect more crime than in my own town, but it's a little disheartening that they look like they live so close to every "nice" house I find.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

You can thank our DA AND THE STATE LEGISLATORS, for the mess you are describing.

Have there been problems in Charlotte with them? With so many of them, aren't there any laws keeping them a certain distance from parks and schools?
Thanks

Yes there are problems with them, and they have passed laws that is suposed to keep them away from schools and parks but the DA will let just about any criminal bond out and keep comitting crimes. WBTV our local tv station has been doing a lot of coverage on these issues.. I call Charlotte {THE CRIMINALS PARADISE ON EARTH} PROPERTY CRIMES AND ROBBERIES ARE RAMPANT HERE. Our new police chief is trying to get a handle on things though, but without the DA'S help he is fighting a losing battle. The police do their part but the DA does not.....
