Hello, I am new to this forum and a I have a question that i need answers to. Later on this year, I am planning to relocate to the Charlotte area for school. I am hailing from South Florida, so I am used to crime. What I would like to know is how is the crime in the University City area. I am looking to purchase a home in the eastern or northeastern part of the city. How is the crime in this area? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. LNeonurse

I suggest in the Huntersville area if it's needed to be in Mecklenburg County at all (ie: Eastfield Rd, Sam Furr Rd, the northern sections of Old Statesville Rd or Prosperity Church Rd). However, I suggest Concord, right across the northern line.

Hey,
The University area is really a mixed bag. Some areas ther are very nice but there are also some that are pretty rough. My advice is to stay to the North and East of the University. That would mean the areas down 49 toward Harrisburg and up towards Mallard Creek. Stay away from apartment complexes and neighborhoods near North Tryon Street and I-85.
