Looking at his arrest record this subjects crimes are getting more violent as time gos by. His last three were for violent crimes.
He needs to go away for sometime. His next arrest could be for killing someone.
We can only hope that he will do some real time for a long time.

Take a look at his height at the time of each of his arrests. The police list everything from 5'10" to 6'3". Perhaps we need a 9% tax increase to buy rulers for the police dept.

He needs to stay in jail he keep commiting the same crimes. he is not going to stop. i dont understand why the court systems just lets people out of jail who keeps commiting crimes.

08/11/2002- Felonious assault on a handicapped person. Convicted in 2004 & sentenced to one year in jail.
07/21/2003- Drunk & disorderly, resisting an officer and credit card theft arrest. - Case dismissed.
09/01/2003- Giving false information to officer & resisting arrest. - Case dismissed.
09/16/2003- Receiving a stolen vehicle. Convicted in 2004 & sentenced to 4 months in jail.

Perhaps if I had a camera with me and anticipated the carjacking, I could have taken a picture of him jumping into my vehicle, assaulting me when I tried to get him out and giving me the finger as he sped away. Even better if I could have videotaped the whole thing, including when he stalked me in the store prior to carjacking me in the parking lot. Even better than that would have been to equip all the eyewitnesses with camcorders so they could also tape the carjacking and get an up close image of his face.

Is this what we have to do to bring justice to innocent victims???

The sad thing about it is, he's not afraid to commit crimes and go to jail because he knows he wont stay. I (a person with a conscience and no record) am afraid I would go away for a long time if I got caught littering!!!!! Piece of advice tho', please don't try to apprehend him yourself. I know you can't count on the court system, but don't let their ignorance cause you to do something that will put you back in front of them on the other side begging for your freedom. Vengeance is mine said the Lord! Let him handle it.

This is apalling! And one of his crimes is attempted rape on someone 13 or older. I can't believe the Navy accepted this guy. Why are so many cases dismissed? How much evidence do they need to prosecute? Seems like you had plenty of evidence to support your carjacking. It is shocking that this guy is out on the streets. No wonder so much crime is committed in Charlotte. No one prosecutes these criminals. What does someone have to do to get locked up?! Seems like Charlotte is WAY too lenient with these thugs.

It is a sad obvious truth that the " system" has failed this dirtballs victims. I just shake my head, and wonder how he has gotten away with so much. lookinglass, Is only one of his many victims. What lack of evidence? better yet who was the judge who allowed this to be thrown out? Its obvious that lookinglass did everything he could to bring this scuzball to justice. Lookinglass, it is my understanding that Joshua Ryder was convicted on three counts last Wednesday and received a long sentence.

It looks like Ryder was moved from the Mecklenburg County Jail to Central Prison on 11/10/07. The DOC site shows his 'sentence calculation pending' so I'm unable to tell you how long he will be there.

Actually, if you check his sentence history it looks like he got 17-22 years in prison. Go to the offender search for NC prisons and you'll see he is in Central Prison. There it says unknow projected release date but on charmeck it has a sentence history. I want to say I'm sorry for what he did to you. I dated Josh for 5 years, a long long time ago and he wasn't always this way. He really used to be a great guy with tons of potential. But, he started smoking crack and it led to his demise. Hence the reason I left him. He would get better then get worse. I don't understand why they never sent him to a treatment center. The same reason why he slipped through the system so many times. I don't know if you know anyone who has had an addiction, but it's a sad thing to witness. It changes good people into demons. And it's no excuse for what he did because it was his choice to smoke crack and do the horrible things he did. He did get his life together at one point and entered the Navy to get his head on straight. But he had a heart murmur and he was discharged. And then he fell off the wagon again and hit it bad. The assault on a handicapped person wasn't a cripple or anything, the guy was schitzophrenic and tried to rob him. I can't explain Josh's violent crimes, because I've never seen him violent. I talked to his mom the day before he carjacked you and she said he was doing great. She never took any interest in getting him the help he needed. And if she did, it might not have happened to you. I'm sorry again for what he did and you'll be happy to know he's paying for it for a long time.

No problem. I just wanted to let you know he wasn't always like this and used to be a good person. You should write him a letter telling him what he did to you and how it made you feel. It might help you with dealing with this. And he deserves to know, sober, what he did.

It is my understanding that when the state takes control the criminals sentence is reduced to one half and then even more for good behavior. I bet he serves less than 7 years. What does it take here in NC for real justice?
