Moving to Charlotte soon

We are a family of 3 and are moving to Charlotte area soon ...are there some areas anyone would suggest that are better than other areas....every state has its problem areas....just want to stay clear of any problem areas totally.....

I think the area we are looking at is area 2 mechlinburg area...gee I take bets I spelled that one wrong....

I would like to speak to anyone that lives in that area and can give me a run down on what to expect....

We were there in July and the houses we were looking at all seem to be in good areas...but I do know that alot changes at night....

I would love to know the following

good places to shop
to eat
parks
doctors
any recommendations on any of the above

what are the taxes like
what do you get for the taxes
like trash pickup
police
streets cleaned etc

cost of living

heating any suggestions is one better than the next

any in formation you care to share would be great

I would really look at the Fort Mill area because schools are much better in SC. South West Charlotte where I live is pretty nice and new still. I live in zip 28278 area.

It depends on where in area 2. I live in the Midwood area and love it. Its close to town so you have to expect a higher crime rate. I've lived here 10+ years crimefree but there is crime here just as there is all over Charlotte and any other city. I would recommend this area for people who are interested in the convenience of uptown and urban living. Great restaurants and shops, etc.

I highly recommend NOT moving to Charlotte/Mecklenburg County. If you have to reside in the city limits I would recommend the south side or maybe Dilworth. If you have to live in Meck County try the Lake Norman area. Most areas of the city are heavily populated by blacks and have serious crime statistics to prove it.
