How do you go about getting infromation on crimes. I would like to get infromation from the Cabarrus Sheriffs office that gives crime data etc but the web site does not provide it like Concord, Meck, or Charlotte.
Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Hey Mikey,
I get my information from CMPD & FBI because I am on the 'media' mailing lists... I've tried to get added to the list for the surrounding towns but my requests went unanswered...
Generally speaking- it is the police departments that release information about crime. The Sheriff's Department should be able to give you information about arrests, inmates or warrants but crime data should come from the police departments.
What kind of information are you looking for?

I am looking for information that happens in the county close to where I live. I am part of a Neighborhood Watch and the Cabarrus Sheriffs Dept covers our town and area.

Mikey, I would contact the Sheriff's Dept directly and see if they can add you to a contact list... or see if they have a community watch officer. CMPD has officers who keep in contact with community watch coordinators to let them know what is going on in the area. I don't know if Cabarrus County has something like that.
