I am moving my money from the so-called Bank of America right now! Bank of America has offered bank accounts and free transfers to Mexico for months now. Now they are offering credit cards to illegal aliens. Who will take the loss when they skip town? I will.
This is BS!!!
(National-NBC) February 14, 2007 - Bank of America corporation plans to expand a program that offers credit cards to customers who don't have a Social Security number.
Customers must have a checking account at the bank for three months and are required to leave a deposit.
Bank of America tested the program in Los Angeles last year and says it helps undocumented immigrants build good credit. However, the credit offer comes with a price, high interest rates and up-front fees.
BOA plans to expand the program nationwide later this year.
Critics say the program helps people who violate the country's immigration laws. Bank of America says the program is in compliance with US banking and anti-terrorism laws.

I think Ken is going for a $10 million bonus this year. Gotta love corporate greed.

I can't believe Bank of America or should I say 'Banco America.' Ken Lewis will get his $10 million bonus IF they pay their bills. I am sick and and tired of companies and the government coddling these folks. I am not asking them to change their culture but they should learn English and assimilate. We give no incentive for this. All government forms are in Spanish, businesses must create a 'Spanish' prompt and now they can have credit cards. Outrageous!

In addition to catering to illegal immigrants, Bank of America has moved a lot of jobs American's were doing to India... It is cheaper for them but hurts Americans looking for work!

Shame on Bank of America. Illegal is Illegal, not matter what the reasons/excuses/motivations may be. There is a right way and a wrong way to come into our country and become a tax-paying citizen. BOA is only looking to increase their bottom line, and I believe that enabling and encouraging illegal aliens by allowing them a way to circumvent the system is unethical and immoral. There are not enough "good" reasons to do the wrong thing.

Actually, Ken Lewis took a pay cut in 2006.
His stock options were only worth $11.4 million last year.
A higher standard, indeed!!
I sent a letter and closed 2 accounts at BOA today.

Im tired of them also. I was one of the employees that lost my job due to their "job fair" in India...It's all about the money when it comes to Bank of "America"

The thing that angered me the most about this whole deal was BOA's statement to the effect that "it is not their responsibility to determine whether or not an immigrant is legal".
If that is not an arrogant, callous, anything-for-money, in-your-face attitude I don't know what is.
I hope Hugh Mac is happy.

I support Bank of America in their decision. It's a good business, and maybe it will cut down on members of the Hispanic community from being robbed. Not all Hispanics are illegal. And even illegal folks should be able to put their money in a bank like legal citizens. Besides, I think the BOA legal team looked at all potential legal issues and feel sure they are in compliance with State and federal laws on this matter.

I was really worried that BOA would get into trouble. Another thing that worries me is that you totally don't get what is wrong with this picture, and what a slap in the face it is to anyone concerned about the flood of illegals into Charlotte, and how easy it is for them to obtain false documentation that makes them appear legal. Thanks to BOA's anything for a buck attitude, this out of control situation will get more out of control. And BOA, and apparently you, could not care less.

How is Wachovia? I want to close my BofA checking, savings and credit card that I've had for over ten years. I would prefer to stay with a large bank so I think Wachovia may be it.

I do not know if people will actually quit BofA, but I have never seen such an uproar and deluge of e-mails from friends and aquaintences asking me to quit doing business with them. A lot of them have a particular date in March to do it. I guess we will see, but it doesn't seem to bother them at all for now.
