As an employee of Guardian Protection Services I have seen that one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from crime is to get a security system put into your home. Two of my customers have had robberies in their neighborhood and in both instances it was the house without a system that was robbed while the others were left alone.
It also seems like if an entire neighborhood has systems that the crime migrates somewhere else. While, this may not bring crime down as a whole, it is a way to keep it from coming through your front door.
