The following report comes from 6News:
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are looking for some brazen burglars they say are stealing from homes in south Charlotte.
Police say in each of the cases, the thieves knock on someone's door, look through windows to see if anyone is home and kick the door down if no one answers.
People have reported seven home break-ins in south Charlotte in two weeks. Several of the crimes are not far from South Mecklenburg High School.
Officers say what makes these cases so unusual is that the thieves target one home right after the other, during the day light.
Many homes had alarm systems, and that still didn't scare them away. Detectives say they're usually after jewelry and in and out in a couple of minutes.
“It appears they know what they want. So they are kicking in the door, going to what it is they want and they are out very quickly because a lot of these people had alarms,” said CMPD Detective Steve Simona.
Police say they are driving a silver Chevy blazer. Neighbors have spotted the car, some have even chased after them, but no suspects have been caught.
One woman met the burglars face to face. She pulled into her driveway and noticed a strange car with one man inside, another by her front door.
“I asked if I could help him and he said no I have the wrong house,” said the woman.
After they left, she realized they had kicked down her door, and took off with her jewelry.
“There were a lot of things in there that were very sentimental to me and it just kills me to think that someone thinks they can come in your house and take your things for no reason,” said the woman.
Her neighbors wrote down the license plate number, which came back to police as stolen.
Police say if someone knocks on your door and seems suspicious, don’t open the door, but yell through the door and ask if you can help them. Police say if you don’t open the door, thieves may think no one is home, and break inside. Officers also say over the holidays it’s a good idea to leave lights on and have a neighbor pick up your mail and newspapers.

NEIGHBORHOOD ALERT: BREAK-INS
Written by: CameronWood Resident
I live on Deer Spring Ln. & my house was broken into yesterday. It was around 2:15 pm & the suspects were 2 black males in their late 20's or early 30's. One of them had all gold teeth on top & was wearing a gold/tan jacket with fur around the hood. I saw them & spoke to them before I realized they had broken in & stolen all my jewelry. I asked them if I could help them & they said they must have the wrong house. The police said they have been looking for these guys b/c they are hitting homes all up & down Park Rd.
They ring the doorbell to see if you are home & if not then they kick the door down. They are very brave seeing as I live on a fairly busy street & they went to my front door. The officer said the best thing to do is to look through a window & let them know you are home but do NOT answer the door. They have broken in to homes when people are home but do not answer the door. He said the alarm does not deter them b/c they are in & out so quickly. Four of the homes they hit last week had alarms that went off. I had also heard that they hit 3 other homes yesterday on English Sparrow.
Thank you.
