CMPD is alerting people who live in the Dilworth area of Charlotte about several recent break-ins in the area. Police say the burglars often strike as people are getting ready for work. Officers said the burglars have unscrewed security lights outside homes to stay unseen.
Drug deals is another problem in the Dilworth area. Residents say they have seen people selling drugs on the streets. A bulletin sent out by Dilworth's Neighborhood Association says one car stops, a second pulls up and someone gets into the first car. Once the transaction ends, both cars drive off.
Homeowners are asked to do the following:
- Keep an eye on the streets and report all suspicious activity.
- Always carry a cell phone if out walking.
- If you have an alarm- remember to set it before you leave your residence.
