I posted in victims of crime, see that for full story. Bottom line: Wal-Mart and Lowe's, as well as side shopping center w/ Luigi's etc., in the Whitehall shopping center on S. Tryon St., near intersection of 485, south of Arrowood, there were several car break-ins, including mine. I was parked 3 spaces from the front, right in front of the exit door in front of the store, and they popped the lock on the driver's door.
And a few weeks ago, a friend staying at a hotel by Carowinds, right off 77 was broken into, they smashed their window.
In my case, and friend's case, they rumaged through things, but neither of us can pinpoint anything that was stolen. I can't think of any personal papers unaccounted for, and they didn't take obvious stuff like the radar detector. But they did damage my lock, and my friends' window, so it still sucks. Don't know what all they took from other vehicles.

Great-that's where we usually shop. Is there any place left in Charlotte to SAFELY shop?? This is getting ridiculous. I came from CA and it's 10 times worse here!!

ATTENTION . PEOPLE THAT PARK AT HOTELS. I AM HEAD OF SECURITY AT ONE OF THE HOTELS IN WEST CHARLOTTE,THERE IS A GANG OF THEIVES WORKING THE HOTELS IN CHARLOTTE. THEY RIDE AROUND IN CARS, DRIVING THROUGH LOTS LOOKING FOR GPS OR ANY OTHER THINGS LEFT IN CARS. WHEN THEY FIND ONE THEY WANT TO BREAK INTO THEY BACK UP NEXT TO IT , JUMP OUT AND BREAK THE WINDOW AND SNATCH WHAT EVER THEY WANT.PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN OPEN SIGHT FOR THEM. BIG SUVS ARE THE ONES THEY REALLY LIKE BECAUSE THEY FEEL THESE PEOPLE HAVE MORE MONEY AND CAN AFFORD NICE THINGS. SO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO CARS THAT ARE JUST CIRCLING THE HOTEL. ALSO ASK THE HOTEL IF THEY HAVE SECURITY.
