Just today I talked to two local business people and they both told me that they had been victims of property crime this month. One was a landscaper and the other runs a transmission shop. The landscaper lost 2 weed eaters and a back pact blower and the transmission guy lost a bunch of aluminum transmission cases.
Here is my main point, both did not report the losses because they felt it was just a waste of time. I wonder how much other crime goes unreported? What do you think is the REAL crime rate here in Char-Meck?

Was it because of insurance that they didn't report it? Just curious.

The reason they gave was that it is a waste of time to make a report and the police never get anything back for them. Insurance did not factor into their not making a report. They have been repeat victims of crime and they are resigned to the fact that here in Char-Meck you are just out of luck when it comes to property crime.

You have the choice of whether to file an insurance claim or not. I know it's time consuming and frustrating to file a police report. And it propbaby wouldn't help get any of the items back, but a filed police report will help to map the crimes being committed. This could lead to more services added to a particular area. If it's the same suspects, it might lead to them being caught.

Most of the small business owners I know and myself as well do not have theft insurance. The reality is that property crime is out of control and the police are helpless to do anything because of resource allocation . Here in Char-meck you are just plain out of luck when your property gets stolen.
