The Hidden Valley area near Sugar Creek and N tryon. Then second maybe the Tuckasegee/Freedom area and Beatties ford and Lasalle....

I have worked in a lot of areas over the years...I would say right now it is the Hidden Valley/ Sugar creek Road/I85 area!

Funny, I remember a time when you didn't go downtown after dark and if you did, you locked all the doors and ran redlights. Oddly enough, it's headed back that direction.  +1 Hidden Valley +1 Tuckaseegee Rd. Parts of Wilmore are still bad, too. Nations Ford Rd. too. |

TREETOP APTZ OFF NATIONSFORD. ITS LIKE THE WILD WEST OUT THERE, LITTLE KIDS SHOOTING HANDGUNS INSTEAD OF BB GUNS JUST PLAYING. CONSTANT PROSTITUTION, DRUG ACTIVITY, MEXICANS BEING ROBBED CONSTATELY, ETC...ITS ROUGH THERE...

Any area in the 28210, 28205 or 28215 zip codes should be considered a high crime or high crime spillover area. If you look at a road map of Charlotte you can see that those arreas have some of the most tightly packed, dense population. Those areas are also typicaly lower income residences. Poverty + High Population = High Crime.

28217 has high crime also, i live in the 28210 area in a very nice house in a nice neighborhood.i dont think that the 28210 is bad there are some areas but not where i live, if u want to get down too it there really is no zip code in the charlotte city limits that has no crime.south blvd is getting bad,but park near south meck is ok in the 28210 area

28217 has the highest overall crime rate in the city, mainly due to Nations Ford Rd. The overall rate includes car breakins, etc, but there are a lot of armed robberies in that area.

I believe I saw the zip code report on one of the local news channels about 6 months ago.
I love the Charlotte area, but I am sick of living in the city. I know crime can happen anywhere, but it's too much lately. I am looking to move just over the border into SC or possibly to Belmont/Mt. Holly.
The police have been patrolling the Pointe more often now, but I still don't feel safe.

I work in Hidden Valley/ N Tryon area & you would not believe the crap we see going on there all day long. I do have to admit though the police response has gotten better in the past couple of weeks. Before you could just hope they showed up, now you will have 3 cars within 15 minutes. I think the police should work more with the businesses in this area & it would help. We know who is doing what, because we see them strolling all day. I think all the hookers moved to tryon, when they started trying to clean up wilkinson/freedom area. And the crackheads & thugs....oh lord...don't get me started. I can handle it, pretty much during the day but come dark...I'm out of there |

Lets look at new and future crappy hoods in charlotte. We all can agree that these zip codes are bad. 28205,28215,28208,28213,28216,28212,28211,28209,28214,28269,28217, The future worst hoods are the university area ( 28269 and 28262) what do all these areas have in common? you tell me

These areas are areas that are falling prey to gangs and drugs, they have high unemployment or low wage employment rates and high foreclosure rates, these houses are bought by investors and rented and sometimes sub rented to people. New developments that were clean and safe 3 years ago are now ghetto. it starts with renters not caring about the property. Then cars in the front yard, a detirioration of the neighborhood. cookie cutter homes and sub prime lending in the new develpments, the older people moving out in the established nieborhoods. Look at hidden valley. BEAUTIFUL houses.
Any input? any post replies?

I moved to Charlotte 2 1/2years ago, and i have experienced more crime in the 2 years than I have in my entire life. Our car was stolen. Pretty much every home in our new neighborhood in NE Charlotte has been broken into. I now live around people that own guns and have cameras on their homes. We came down here with the dream of owning a nice home. We got the nice home and got the crappy police dept that choose not do anything about our concerns. I pay a lot in taxes for my home and car and for me not to get the service that I deserve is just god awful. You know the police dept said when we came down here that there was no gang problem, and now you notice police chiefs and sheriffs are retireing. Gee you wonder why, Perhaps they under estimated the crime and now they want to get out of dodge. Do you blame them. We need a department that is going to recognize the needs of the citizens that work hard and pay their dues. My personal opinion the worst part of Charlotte is the NE side . University police dept needs additional police officers and I believe we are paying enough in taxes to get more officers.

So not true! I live in Midwood and have for 10 years. I have never been the victim of any type of crime in my neighborhood. I work in alot of neighborhoods around Charlotte and have heard numerous stories of crime particularly in the University area. Crime can happen anywhere. There are thugs all over and they're not hitting neighborhoods they live in. They'll hit wherever the opportunity allows.

Charlotte once again got what it wanted (and deserved). An imaginary UTOPIA of Liberal Politics, nice Lite rail - a good qualified Sheriff - and all the politicians that money can buy! Can anyone expect anything to come of this? DIVERSITY is the key! DIVERSITY at ALL COSTS -- and what costs there are. THAT is why I moved out of the PLAZA-Mid (East) area (AND Charlotte altogether!) -- and anyone who says there is NO CRIME in ANY neighborhood in Charlotte is STILL wearing 1960's rose colored glasses! Keep voting in Status Quo and you will get NOTHING but misdirected priorities, unmanageable schools - and street corners filled with who knows what! DIVERSITY!! THAT is the key!! Charlotte is really no different than any other major city. Simply seek out the area(s) that are predominantly black and you will find the most un kept and dangerous areas. I've travelled to almost 40 states and numerous foreign countries and this theory has NEVER proven me wrong.

Actually the worst part of Charlotte is the South Park area. Down there you can get ran over with cars, raped, your child can be molested, you can speed through residential areas, you can even be shot by your neighbor for walking through his/her yard but its all right because its all white!!! Isn't the right quint???

Statistically speaking I'll take my chances any day in a white neighborhood. Why is it that anyone with the means and ability usually moves OUT of black neighborhoods/slums/ghettos and not in?
